It’s a big day for all of us. We’re excited to announce the next evolution of our team! Check out our press release...

Cyclesmith Junior Racing Team Evolves To Cyclesmith Racing

Halifax, NS – Cyclesmith’s junior racing team has evolved. Formerly Cyclesmith Junior Racing Team, the team has been renamed Cyclesmith Racing to better reflect the diverse ages of its riders.

“Changing our name to Cyclesmith Racing was a natural progression,” says president and head coach Andrew Feenstra. “Several of our riders have grown into young adults and are ready to start the next phase of their cycling journey and we’re excited to welcome new riders onto the team. As a result, we’ve committed to evolving our team in order to meet every rider’s needs.”

While the team’s name has changed, its purpose remains the same. Cyclesmith Racing will continue to be a group of diverse riders, from grassroots to elite, who train and compete together out of love for the sport, leading by example and encouraging a younger generation of riders to discover the fun and freedom of cycling. The team will continue to champion the True Sport Principles of fairness, excellence, inclusion and fun.

“We measure our success not by podium results, but by the positive impact that team members have in their community, and their ability to share their love for cycling with the next generation,” notes Feenstra. “Our riders will continue to organize the weekly Shorttrack Series – a major fundraiser for our team – which has introduced hundreds of young Nova Scotian youth to organized cycling for over 15 years. With the evolving team we are now able to see more riders giving back to youth in their community.”

Cyclesmith Racing has attracted a lot of positive attention over the years. Other cycling clubs in Nova Scotia have successfully adopted aspects of the team’s model. The team itself has earned local and national media coverage, and even garnered attention from Canada’s powerhouse cycling province Quebec.

“We’re proud to announce the evolution of our team today and we would like to thank our partners who have supported us along the way,” concludes Feenstra. “Every member of Cyclesmith Racing would like to once again thank Bontrager/Trek Bicycle, Steele Ford, ABG2 Cycling, Bicycle Nova Scotia, and of course, the parents.”
